First off, most Americans get tons more protein than they need. You can get by on a lot less.
Second, there are lots of good sources for vegetarian protein. Unrefined grains have a lot--wheat, rice, barley, and try quinoa, spelt and amaranth for variety (they're awesome). Beans are also great. It is a myth that you have to combine foods and make a "complete protein," but try to get as many different sources as possible to cover all of your essential amino acids. Eggs and milk are great sources of protein if you choose to eat them, but they aren't necessary. Veggies are good too. Broccoli gets 40% of its calories from protein.
I would say that as long as you're not living on junk food, you'll be fine on the protein front.
