Since no one answered back in the day on this, no it's not like a hot sauce, unless you buy it like that.

Most chili sauces are pretty mild. They can be sweet, hot, tangy, whatever you want. Hit the store and see what one sounds good to your tummy.

I've looked all over and I can't find a chili sauce. So I used some hot sauce and a lot less than the recipe called for. Recipe called for 2 bottles, and I used .5 of one and it turned out really really good...

Basically this is the recipe:

As many pork steaks as you want
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
16 oz can of jellied cran berry sauce
12 ounce jar of chili sauce (I can't find chili sauce, so I use .5 a bottle of hot chili sauce)
2 tbsp brown sugar

Mix the sauce, sugar and spices together.
Add the jellied crans to the mixture, but leave it in cubes (found it makes them taste better, as pork really doesn't absorbe the juices very well)
Put the pork steaks in the crock pot and pour this over the top of them. Try to keep most of it on top of the steaks as it seems to soak in them better and add more flavor.

cook on high for 1 hour and then 3 hours on low. I just do 3-4 hours on low becuase I found the other way tries to dry it out.

It's really good. Just a bit of hot sauce taste/kick, but the mix with the cran's makes it really really taste. Weird combo, I know... But try it...You'll like it!

You really couldn't find Chili sauce? There's lots. I know Harmons around here carry's them.....made by Heinz I think? That's for your super generic one though......

I'll check out your recipe when I have some time.....working till 8 is screwing me over unfortunately on cooking

Nope, no chili sauce - just frozen everything.

That recipe is super easy. Let it cook for as long as you want. I go about 3-4 hours, as it seems more than that really does no good but makes it seem dried out. Get a crock pot with a timer and have it ready for you to eat when you get home

I went back and edited the recipe to show what the book says....

I bought this book at the checkout stand -

Fix it and forget it - slow cooker magic.

So far I haven't found one I really dislike. There have been a few that I'll probably never make again, but nothing that we didn't eat.

I must be at the wrong store... Maybe I'll go to Safeway or Albertson's and look for Chili Sauce, because there isn't any in the mexican isle... I looked there, where they have their special sauces, ketchups and BBQ sauces - goose egg!
